If you’re looking for vacations near Whitby and are happy to stay around an hour’s drive south, we’d love to welcome you. Spend a day exploring Whitby’s historic streets, then return to your own cosy chalet for the evening.
You’ll find Sand Dunes at South Shore Holiday Village in Wilsthorpe, around a mile south of Bridlington. Our location suits guests who want a seaside setting with plenty of options for days out.
Bridlington offers plenty to enjoy, from the golden sands of South Beach to the working harbour and traditional seafront. You might spend one day picnicking on the beach and another exploring somewhere new.
Whitby is roughly 38 miles from Bridlington by road. Allow around an hour or more for the drive, depending on your route and traffic, with a little extra time from our chalets.
Whitby is well worth a full day. Wander through the old cobbled streets, watch the activity around the harbour or tackle the famous 199 steps leading towards St Mary’s Church and Whitby Abbey.
There’s no need to rush straight back. Stop for something to eat, enjoy the sea views and take your time getting to know the town before heading back to Sand Dunes.
Staying in Bridlington means Whitby can be one part of a varied coastal holiday, with other days free to explore closer to your chalet.
After a day on your feet, it’s lovely to have your own space to relax. Each of our chalets sleeps four people in two bedrooms, with an open-plan lounge, fitted kitchen and shower room.
Chalet 1 has a double bed and two single beds, while Chalet 2 has a double bed and bunk beds. Both include free Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, heating and beds made ready for your arrival.
You’ll also have a fenced lawned front garden and parking next to the chalet. Dogs are welcome too, and our connecting door can be unlocked when both chalets are booked together.
